Sade & Doom
Sade - Is It A Crime? LIVE
Don't fuck with Sade.
This is easily the best live performance I have ever seen, and I wasn't even there. I'm struggling to find out when it's from, but found it was in LA. I would part with a good amount of money to see Sade perform the best stuff from 'Diamond Life' and 'Promise'..
Out to MF Doom on sample duties here ('Kon Karne' from 'MM FOOD' - a song written about his deceased brother and ex-K.M.D beatmaker, Subroc) try and spot it the original up there ^ if u can (not hard). He sampled Sade before this on Operation Doomsday with the title track 'Doomsday' taking the most of the instrumental elements and the bridge vocal from 'Kiss of Life'
I love how he flips the original line in the Sade song 'My love is wider, wider than Victoria Lake, My love is taller, taller than the Empire State' into various localised similies like:
'Darker than the East River, Larger than the Empire State where the beasts guard the barbed-wire gate'
'Wilder than Nile, hold power like the great Pyramids of Giza and stay Lean like the Tower of Pisa'
and
'Vaster than the Seven Seas, Bigger than Mount Killamanjaro, if they don't know fill 'em in tomorrow'
MF Doom - Kon Karne
'As i reminisce, never forgot when i was very broke,
Shot the Heny straight, couldn't afford to cop the Cherry Coke..'
Here's a K.M.D classic produced by Subroc:
